Learning and Teaching Showcase 2017 -- Call for Papers

Communities in Practice

Warwick Learning and Teaching Showcase 2017

Monday 3 July 2017
The Oculus Building
9:30am – 4:30pm

Learning communities involve people learning through and from collaboration and socially constructing knowledge. This can happen at all levels, involve anyone, and take many shapes. At Warwick, learning communities often, but not exclusively, develop through:

  • partnerships involving students and staff which enable students to engage deeply in their learning and, in turn, inspire staff to think creatively about learning and teaching practices;
  • professional learning communities which support collaboration and challenge the boundaries of established knowledge and approaches;
  • wider community engagement that contributes to making Higher Education more inclusive and accessible.

The Warwick Learning and Teaching Showcase 2017 seeks to explore how learning and teaching and the student experience are enhanced through and by communities. Proposals might consider:

  • Students as researchers/producers;
  • Students as partners in pedagogic research, design, and enhancement;
  • Higher Education and local communities;
  • International and transnational learning communities;
  • Online communities.

We particularly welcome proposals that embody broader concepts of community and are co-presented by members of wider Warwick communities (such as students, business partners, international collaborators, etc).

Proposals can be for:

  • posters;
  • short (20 minute) papers;
  • mixed sessions (30 minutes; 10 minutes delivery, 20 minutes’ interactive element);
  • or longer workshop sessions of up to 40 minutes’ duration.
  • There will also be a session for 20/20-style presentations (20 slides with 20 seconds to talk about each slide).

Proposals must be submitted by Monday 22 May using this submission form.

The Warwick Learning and Teaching Showcase is co-presented by the Teaching and Learning Unit of the Learning and Development Centre, WIHEA, IATL, the Library, the Students’ Union, Academic Technology, Student Careers and Skills, and the Centre for Lifelong Learning.
