    Library Study Environment

    Trial area on Floor 2
In response to student requests for a quieter area where food and hot drinks can be consumed, the Library is trialling an area outside the Teaching Grid (the side nearest the Extension Building). The desks have been positioned for quiet, individual studying so please be considerate to other Library users when you are working in this area. You can eat cold snacks and drink hot and cold drinks. Please do not use your mobile phone for conversations and make sure that your computer volume is on mute (or use headphones). Please be aware that the rest of Floor 2 will remain a Group Work Zone so noise may travel across the floor.

Please remember to always look at overhead signs when choosing your study space. Please check that you are only using laptops in areas where laptops are permitted and are eating and drinking in the correct places, to avoid disturbing other students.

    Reservation of Study Spaces

Study spaces are always in demand, especially in Term 3. You should not leave a study space unattended for more than 30 minutes. After this time, you may find staff will enable another student to use this study space and your items will be moved to the edge of the desk. You are advised not to leave valuables unattended and you are asked to be considerate to the needs of other Library customers. Click here for more information.

Please remember that the Silent Study Rooms are for silent, individual study. You should check out the signs to find out where you can use your laptop and should not eat or drink anything but bottled water. No conversation is allowed. Please use more suitable areas of the Library if you need to talk.

If you feel that you are being disturbed in the Library by other's inconsiderate and inappropriate behaviour, please ask a Library Steward or other member of staff for assistance. The Stewarding Team are here to help maintain the Library environment and will carry out regular patrols of the Library floors ensuring that you are able to study in an environment that is suitable to you. Please support them and co-operate with them.
