Short Loan Collection (SLC): Key points
- Contains high demand/core reading material
- DVDs/videos to support relevant courses
- Items due back 11:00am the next day Monday-Friday, or 11am Monday if borrowed on a Friday
- Can be booked online
- Can be renewed online if not booked by another user
- Make sure you bring books back on time to avoid fines!

What is the Short Loan Collection?
The Short Loan Collection (SLC) contains core books which are in high demand, together with the DVDs held by the Library.
Where is the Short Loan Collection?
It is located on Floor 1. Items can be borrowed by using the Self Issue Machine in Short Loan.
How long can I borrow a Short Loan item for?
As they are in heavy demand, Short Loan items can only be borrowed for a limited time. Items are due for return by 11.00 am the following morning. Although you can borrow these items over the weekend they will be due for return by 11.00am Monday morning. See the Borrowing Books page for more information. Will I be fined if I return a Short Loan item late?
Short Loan items are in high demand, fines on these items are higher than the standard fines , £1 per hour or part of an hour. See the Fines page for more information.
How can I renew a Short Loan item?
You can renew items after 7am and before 11am, providing that they are not booked by another user, in the following way:- My Library, 24/7 Telephone renewals and once the Library is open via a self-issue machine or by calling the Library 024765 22026
Where do I return a Short Loan item?
All items can be returned by using the Self-Return machines or at the Library Services Helpdesk on floor 1.
Note: To avoid disturbing other Library users when viewing videos or dvds, headphones can be borrowed from the Library Helpdesk on Floor 1.
