The University of Warwick Brass Society is a student-run unauditioned group welcoming all standards of brass musicians from across the University into our friendly ensembles.  The Brass Band (under professional conductor, Simon Hogg) and the Symphonic Brass Ensemble meet regularly to provide opportunities to rehearse and perform and smaller groups (such as fours or fives) are also often formed, as demand dictates.

We give several performances each term in a diverse range of venues, from the Butterworth Hall in Warwick Arts Centre to local bandstands or outside the Students' Union, frequently with external groups such as the Fine Arts Brass Ensemble.

The Brass Band also competes in test piece and entertainment contests, meaning fun days out (and inevitable socials) whilst also enjoying a great deal of success in competitions.  The repertoire of music we have performed is very impressive, spread across a range of styles from Gabrieli to Gershwin. Past programmes have included arrangements of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, Handel's Music for the Royal Fireworks, Bizet's Carmen Suite and Langford's London Miniatures, as well as concerts featuring film music and songs from musicals.

We are a lively group to get involved with and have a very active social life!  The Brass Band rehearses on Wednesdays and Symphonic Brass on Fridays, both at 5pm, generally in the Ensemble Room.
