The Chamber Music Society aims to facilitate music making in smaller groups within the University. Players of all string, wind, and percussion instruments are invited to participate along with pianists and harpsichord players (Brass players please see Brass Society). The whole society performs termly concerts and also participates as individual groups at events such as conferences, weddings and balls. Musical development is also provided through workshops, master classes and tuition from music tutors from the University. Ensembles are very varied with almost all chamber music groups covered. The Society also runs three larger musical ensembles with regular rehearsals:

Examples of groups that have been/are being run:
Flute Choir - An un-auditioned group for all flautists. The Music Centre owns both Alto and Bass flutes to create a dynamic sound
Clarinet Choir – An un-auditioned group for all clarinettists. The Music Centre owns Eb (soprano), Eb Alto, Bb Bass and Eb Contralto Clarinets to create a full bodied sound for this group.
Recorder Group – An un-auditioned group with weekly rehearsals (Dates and time decided as appropriate to members)
