Individual Music Tuition

Tuition is available for all instruments and voices, within the Music Centre, from a team of 24 visiting professional tutors. A discount is available to those who hold Music Scholarships, those who are taught by members of the Coull String Quartet, and those who are in the Chamber Choir.

Tuition is generally arranged directly with tutors in the first two weeks of the academic year at times and durations to suit both tutor and tutee (late starters can obviously take up free places where available). See the notices in the Music Centre at the start of the year for details, particularly to sign up for the combined auditions for singing lessons and Chamber Choir, usually held in the first week of the year.

Unless you have been awarded a Scholarship or Bursary you will have to pay for your lessons. The Current rate for 2010-2011 is £30.00 per hour. The Arts Centre finance team will send out invoices generally at the end of the second term (depending on when you commenced lessons) and these records will be sent to your Student Finance account, into which you need to make the payments. If writing cheques these need to be made out to "The University of Warwick."

To sign up for lessons you will first need to register your details on the Contact Management System and sign the form in the Music Centre office.

We have regular tutors for (in no particular order) singing (all voices), classical and jazz piano, harpsichord, organ, strings, classical guitar, recorder, woodwind, saxophone, brass, percussion and Alexander Technique. Tuition in other instruments is usually possible on request. Chamber music, composition, contemporary music and conducting lessons are also available, dependent on numbers.
