Music Centre

Music Scholarships and Bursaries

The Music Centre offers two types of financial assistance to talented students at the University. There is no music degree at Warwick and hence, these awards are open to all students from all disciplines. The two different types are:

Bursaries

Bursaries are available on a yearly basis, providing financial help towards music lessons. The auditions take place in the first few weeks of the Autumn Term, after you arrive at Warwick and various levels of financial aid are available. The audition consists of:

  • Performance (2 contrasting pieces totalling approximately 8 minutes)
  • Short interview to determine potential and likely contribution to the Music Centre

Scholarships 2012/2013 information

Music Scholarship important information: We are unable to run the external scholarships this academic year and so ALL scholarships will be auditioned in October 2012, for both incoming students and existing students. Applications will be accepted from the beginning of September 2012 and forms will be available online from 1st September. Any full time undergraduate can apply for these.

Music Scholarship holders are expected to contribute heavily to the musical life of the campus. Scholarships are only given to students with exceptional musical ability so scholars will have a role of playing to a high standard and inspiring the students they play alongside in their music-making. We also encourage scholars to take advantage of the excellent music tutors who work here. The Keyboard Accompaniment Scholar may be required to play for weekly Chamber Choir rehearsals and to be available to accompany other groups as designated by the Director of Music.

Auditions for the Internal Scholarships run alongside the Bursary auditions and a referee is required to provide feedback and comment on the auditionee.

Leamington Spa All Saints' Church Choral Scholarship

Join the Choir of All Saints' Royal Leamington Spa as a Choral Scholar!

The choir of All Saints' is recruiting singers. Adult singers are offered a yearly scholarship of £300 to sing alto, tenor or bass. The choir sings in the famous parish church of Royal Leamington Spa and has a long and distinguished tradition of fine music. If you are an undergraduate or postgraduate at Warwick and enjoyed singing in your school choir then All Saints' is the place for you. The choir sings quality sacred music from the 9th to the 21st centuries and has a vibrant social focus that culminates in a cathedral visit each year in August. In 2009 and 2010 the choir sang in York Minster, and in 2010 in Ely Cathedral. In 2011 the choir will sing in St George's Chapel Windsor and Chichester Cathedral.
