To assist in developing and maintaining the research strategies for departments in Social Sciences
To develop detailed strategies for new externally-funded research initiatives - helping to formulate project ideas, developing bids, working on budgets
To develop relationships between the departments and other areas in the University as well as key strategic external funding agencies and expert groups - Research Councils, local Regional Development Agencies, charities, Government and the European Commission
To provide guidance on the preparation of research proposals
To provide a link between the departments and Research Support Services
