- To assist in developing and maintaining research strategies for the Faculty of Arts
- To develop detailed strategies and business plans for major new externally-funded research initiatives - helping to formulate project ideas, developing bids, working on budgets
- Developing relationships between the Arts Faculty departments and other areas in the University and with key strategic external funding agencies and expert groups - Research Councils, charities, the European Commission and with practioners and commercial organisations
- Identification of sources of research funding for arts and humanities departments
- Guidance on the preparation of research proposals
- Facilitating discussions between researchers and potential project partners
- Providing a link between Arts Faculty departments and Research Support Services
- Member of the Humanities Research Centre Committee
- Responsible for overseeing administration of the Humanities Research Fund
- Secretary to the Faculty of Arts Research Committee
- Responsible for overseeing administration of the University's Research Development Fund
