Jane Prewett is Deputy Director of Research Support Services and Head of the Governance Team at the University of Warwick. The main role of the Governance Team is to facilitate high quality applications and contract negotiations through their broad and deep knowledge base but the team also get involved in many broader aspects of research support such as aiding the University in preparing for new initiatives such as fEC, new tranches of European funding, and responding to legislation and governance requirements the University must ensure are met. The Governance Team are able to provide help and advice and the web-site outlines individuals areas of responsibility and their contact details. Jane was sponsored by Dunlop Aviation to do a BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering at Coventry University. After graduation in 1983 Jane spent 9 years in various Design and Development roles in different divisions of Dunlop Aviation progressing to Principal Engineer, responsible for the design and development of aircraft computer simulations for anti-skid performance tuning. Jane gained an MBA from the University of Warwick in 1991 and moved into commercial roles first as a Contracts Manager and then as Business Development Manager for the Ice Protection and Structures Division, responsible for the Contracts Department and Customer Services Department. In 1997 Jane moved to the University of Warwick to join the then Industrial Development Team in the Research and Development Services Office as Contracts Manager. As research income grew and roles developed RSS was reorganised to create the Grants and Contracts Division in 2003 that Jane became the Head of and has continued to manage and develop this team since. |
