Checks Before Accepting an Award
Prior to accepting an award, Research Support Services will:
- Check in detail the terms and conditions of the award, that they are acceptable to the researchers and to the University, taking any appropriate legal advice. Key obligations and responsibilities relating to the project are highlighted to all researchers e.g. conditions relating to confidentiality on the project and after its completion.
- Ensure the budget awarded is as proposed, or where it has been modified or reduced, that the research project is viable and achievable, in consultation with the Principal InvestigatorI or Project Manager, and the funding body
- Confirm through the HOD's Acceptance procedure that the Head of Department (HOD) is willing to support and resource the proposed research in the Department
It is also important that any arrangements for subcontracting part of the work on a grant or contract to another organisation is finalised. Please inform Research Support Services of any such arrangements so that the appropriate subcontracts can be drawn up.
It may also be necessary to split a grant or contract across departments at Warwick. Research Support Services can help broker such arrangements as part of the acceptance process.
