Appointments

The Centre for Student Careers and Skills can help you with all aspects of academic, personal and career development and we would always encourage you to discuss any plans, ideas or concerns with a member of staff.
We offer a variety of appointment types and would recommend that you find out what's available below to help you make the right choice.
How to select the right appointment type in myAdvantage:
- login to myAdvantage appointments, select 'view available appointments';
- select either 'Topic' and click on the appropriate topic area eg Careers guidance;
- or select 'Staff member' and click on the appropriate person.
Job search advice
- advice and feedback on CVs, applications, interview preparation, understanding the graduate job market.
- for application feedback: x2 appointments per academic year but you MUST attend an Effective applications workshop. You're only required to attend this workshop once during your time here.
- no need to book: drop-in between 12-4 (term-time). Learning Grid, Ground Floor, University House.
Short careers appointments
- 20 minute discussion with a careers consultant;
- for help getting started; exploring career options;
- No CV/application feedback - see JSA above for this.

Academic skills advice
- advice and support with academic skills development eg essay writing, note taking, management;
- open to all undergraduate and masters students;
- no need to book: drop-in: Learning Grid, University House;
- Summer term timetable and room locations
- If you are unable to attend a drop-in session, email skills at warwick dot ac dot uk to arrange an appointment.
- Masters students ONLY appointments: Postgraduate Hub 1, Coventry House,Thursdays, 3-5pm summer term and vacation. Book appointments via myAdvantage appointments select 'Academic Skills Advice'.
Academic coaching for research students
- 40 minute discussion between 10am-1.00pm on Thursdays, PG Hub 1 (Coventry House) - new location from 26th April 2012;
- advice and support with academic-related issues: eg Academic writing (NOT proof-reading), personal development;
- open to postgraduate research students ONLY (Masters by Research, MPhil, PhD, EngD, EdD and Professional Doctorate);
- book appointments via myAdvantage appointments select ‘PGR Academic Coaching’ from the topic list;
- alternatively, contact the help desk and ask for an appointment.
Undergraduate & Masters Writing Mentors
- Discussion with a peer mentor, doctoral level researchers in disciplines related to academic writing (15-20mins).
- Advice on: assignment planning, structure, style, grammar, referencing, presentation, narrative coherence, and clarity.
- Limitations
- Drop-in, no need to book. In the Learning Grid the LG advisers or the help desk will direct you towards your mentor. In all other locations please go to the advertised room.
