    The application process for the 2011/12 Undergraduate Research Scholarship Scheme has now closed. If you are a supervisor who has yet to submit their application form, please contact urss at warwick dot ac dot uk for a copy.

    About the Scheme

    The Undergraduate Research Scholarship Scheme provides bursaries of up to £1000 to allow undergraduate students to undertake a short (4 to 10 week) research project within a department or research centre.

    To apply, staff and students from any department or research centre within the University are invited to submit an agreed project proposal via the individual online forms. The project should offer undergraduate students the opportunity to:

    • achieve substantial outcomes;

    • develop a range of research skills;

    • develop a range of transferable skills;

    • work as a member of a research team or group and develop awareness of academic research;

    • where possible, to participate in interdisciplinary work;

    • contribute to on-going research being undertaken in the department or centre;

    • develop any required discipline-specific skills or knowledge.

    Who is eligible?

    The Scheme is aimed at all undergraduate students, usually non-finalists. Finalist students may be offered research scholarships by supervisors, however it is important to note that for final year students, commitment to the scheme will run beyond their time at the university and this can add additional complications.

    How will I benefit from the scheme?

    The scheme is designed to enable you to:

    • gain an understanding of academic research;
    • contribute to the development of new knowledge;
    • engage with a range of workshops that develop your skills and knowledge surrounding poster design and getting published
    • focus on your chosen field;
    • develop skills for future study & employment;
    • equip you with skills and knowledge to help you make an informed decision about future study & employment;
    • receive a bursary of up to £1000 towards expenses.
