If you want to improve then you have to push yourself a little harder. The best way to do that is to jog or run with others especially if they have more experience than you and can advise you. Consider parkrun - go to www.parkrun.com for more details. Parkrun is a training run with lots of other people every Saturday morning at 09.00. Just running with others tends to encourage you to try a bit harder and get a bit fitter. Parkrun is completely FREE but they do ask that you register beforehand and print off a barcode. There are three parkruns in the CSW area at Newbold Comyn (Leamington Spa), in the Coventry Memorial Park and at Brueton Park in Solihull. Subscribe to Run England for general advice. It is free to join the Run England on line commuinity at www.runengland.org Better still, join a Run England training group near to your home or workplace. Join the beginners group at your local athletics club. Check the County Association web site for links to local clubs www.warwickshirecountyaa.co.uk but if there is more than one near you then try them all to see which one makes you the feel the most comfortable and/or see which Club training times suit your lifestyle. If you have ambitions to improve from jogging to running then you really should join a Club.
