The Route

The tour will pass through campus from Westwood Heath Road direction into campus by the Security gatehouse entrance and follow University Road, leaving at the bus interchange roundabout onto Gibbett Hill Road and before it heads towards Kenilworth.

You will be able to get a great view of the race from the Piazza / Plaza or along the route.

If you want to watch off campus, check out the timings here.

Want to find out more?

If you have queries about the race coming through campus on 16th, please email the events team on events@warwick.ac.uk.

Travelling to and around campus

Stage 2 of the race starts the day in Atherstone and ends in Stratford-upon-Avon, so you may experience delays and diversions during the day across Warwickshire.

There will be rolling road blocks across Warwickshire to accommodate the race. Keep a look out on the Warwickshire Council website for information on disruption in the wider area.

No exams are scheduled on the day in case of any disruption.

On campus, there will be road closures in effect from 10.30am for approximately 30 minutes: Westwood Heath Road to Gibbet Hill Rd, including University Road and Library Road will be closed to all traffic. For a short time, this will affect access to all car parks (other than those on Westwood campus or in the Science Park), and the availability of taxis - who will not be able to drop off or pick up from campus during this time.

National Express have confirmed to us that all campus services will run during the Aviva event. While you won’t be able to get on a bus during the road closure, their services will arrive at campus as soon as they can before and after. National Express did, however, say that their leamington to campus services may have to avoid Kenilworth, using the A46 instead during the race morning.

Information on regional diversions are available from National Express and Stagecoach. Travel de Courcey have yet to confirm their arrangements.

Cyclists won't be able to use footpaths or cycle paths along the route, but the sustrans route to Kenilworth will be unaffected through Cryfield Village.

If you're travelling on foot, be sure to leave enough time to make your way through the spectators.

More information will be published around public transport, access and diversions as they are confirmed. We would expect campus services and facilities to return to normal after 11.15am but there may be a knock-on effect in the local roads due to the race.

If you have a specific need to be able to rapidly leave campus during this time, or are expecting external visitors, please let us know in advance if possible.

Cycle on Campus

The Tour will flash by at lightning speed, but our ongoing commitment to cycling won’t. There's loads of other ways to get cycling on campus. For information on routes and facilities, cycling classes at Warwick Sport, the Cycle to Work Scheme, the Bicycle Users Group, UniCycles and more, check out the Cycle on Campus page.
