New Qualifications for the sector
From September 2007, there have been new qualifications for teaching in the lifelong learning sector. Please see the LLUK teacher education and development microsite for further information about the changes in the sector and the new qualifications.
The Essential Skills Resource Centre offers the subject specialist qualifications in adult literacy, language and numeracy. From 2008 we will be offering:
- Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (+ Skills for Life)
- Open Studies Diploma Adult Literacy Specialists - one year
- Open Studies Diploma Adult ESOL Specialists - one year
- Open Studies Diploma Adult Numeracy Specialists - one year
- Open Studies Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (English Literacy) - two years
- Open Studies Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (English ESOL) - two years
- Open Studies Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (Mathematics Numeracy) - two years
In addition, the Centre also offers the following, related courses:

- E-Learning for Teachers and Trainers
- Open Studies Diploma in E-Learning for Teachers and Trainers in the Lifelong Learning Sector
