About the course This online Certificate on how to write outstanding articles, whether for magazines, newspapers, corporate publications, newsletters or websites, delivers an exciting package to those who may feel that e-learning offers a more flexible opportunity to learn in their own time using a computer and the internet.  All material and lectures are delivered to the student entirely online, through specially designed pages on the University of Warwick’s website.

Much like a traditional class, these online modules have readings, assignments and due dates. Students are given individual guidance, support and practical suggestions by the course tutor via a forum or by email. The group as a whole interacts and discusses topics and their work in progress on a private forum.  Each student will have their own blog site and an e-portfolio in which to store their work. Several of the lectures may be enhanced with video and audio cast interviews with writers and media specialists.

The material will be available on the first day of term.  Participants will be emailed passwords and logon details the week beforehand.

Tutor Sally Ballard is a journalist and communications consultant. She was part of the team which moved one of the UK's national newspapers, The Daily Telegraph, from a print-only publication into the digital world as a multi-media company.
For more than 20 years, Sally has worked for a number of national and regional newspapers, magazines and online news sites and has lectured in journalism and communication at universities both in the UK and abroad.
Good clear, concise, unambiguous communication is vital to conveying any message whether in education, business, politics or daily life, therefore, as part of a major online drive, Sally has written a wholly-online accredited course on Writing for Publication specifically for the University of Warwick. Sally is a Warwick alumna having studied for her masters at the University.
