This course considers the relationship between painters and patrons in Renaissance Venice during the period 1490-1550. The focus will be on the workshop of such artists as Titian and Tintoretto in order to show how art production met the demand for works in Venice. We will also examine artistic technique via digital images of paintings, but more importantly study the works themselves in the London National Gallery and the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.
