Essential Skills Centre

Calling all Partly Qualified FE Teachers - including Skills for Life teachers

Are you prevented from applying for QTLS because you are only partly qualified?

  • Are you a Skills for Life teacher with a level 5 Subject Specialism qualification in Literacy, Numeracy or ESOL but do not have a full generic teaching qualification?
  • Are you a Skills for Life teacher with a level 4 Subject Specialism and C+G 7407 stage one and two?
  • Are you a teacher in the Lifelong Learning Sector and have completed and passed just the first year of the University of Warwick DTLLS programme but were unable to complete the second year for some reason?
  • Or did you complete the C+G stage one and two in 2006/7 but have never completed Stage 3 or a DTLLS qualification?

If you have answered ‘YES’ to any of these questions then you may be able to complete a DTLLS qualification in one year at the University of Warwick and become fully qualified (plus a small amount of additional work to be undertaken as part of the APL process).

The blended learning approach

  • You would attend 1 taught day per month at the University of Warwick (total of 7 days).
  • Between taught days, you would complete on-line tasks and assignments (6-9 hours per week).

Our well-established blended learning approach has been greatly valued by busy teachers.

To enrol on this course, you will need:

  • To undertake an initial interview and some work as part of the APL process;
  • 75 hours teaching;
  • Level 2 qualifications in literacy and numeracy.

The current cost of this year of the course is £900 (plus £200 for the APL process).

This will be the last opportunity to fully qualify under the existing HE funding system so get in touch quickly if you are interested!
