    Jane Yin-Kim Yau

(These pages will not be updated after July 2011).

My doctorate degree is based in the Department of Computer Science, University of Warwick. On 1 Nov 2010, I started a post-doc in the CeLeKT research group, at the University of Linnaeus, Växjö, Sweden, led by Prof Marcelo Milrad. I am currently working and collaborating with other members of the CeLeKT group on the various ongoing research projects there such as GeM and LETS GO. One other research topic I would like to focus on in the future is the investigation of (m)-learning preferences of learners in different national cultural groups when undertaking 'mobile learning'. (See my homepage at CeLeKT here).

Here, you will find information about 1) my education, 2) refereed journal and conference publications, 3) given talks, 4) tutoring, marking and other responsibilities, and 5) participation of conferences and workshops.

    EDUCATION:

Oct 2005 - Sep 2010 - PhD Computer Science - Topic: Mobile Learning. Thesis title: "A Mobile Context-aware Learning Schedule Framework with Java learning objects", supervisor Dr Mike Joy, Intelligent and Adaptive Systems Group, Department of Computer Science, University of Warwick. Research areas include: Context-awareness, Suggestion Mechanism, Learning Schedule. My examiners are Prof (of Mobile Learning) John Traxler (University of Wolverhampton, UK) and Dr Meurig Beynon (University of Warwick). I received a Research Studentship from the Department of Computer Science, University of Warwick, in order to fund my doctoral studies.

Oct 2003 - Sep 2004 - MSc Computer Science - Topic: E-Learning. Thesis title: "Learning Objects and the Teaching of Java Programming", supervisor Dr Mike Joy, Educational Technology Group, Department of Computer Science, University of Warwick. Research areas included: Adaptive learning and testing. My examiners were Prof Erkki Sutinen (University of Eastern Finland) and Dr Steve Matthews (University of Warwick).

Oct 1999 - Jun 2002 - BSc Computer Science at the University of Leicester, UK. As part of my final year project, I constructed a website to teach students basic Java programming.
