Michael Morris

Welcome to my ePortfolio, and thanks in advance for taking the time to read through it!

I am a practitioner, teacher and researcher in The Bowen Technique. Having been in clinical practice since the beginning of 1997, and teaching since 2007, I am embarking on my latest chapter here at the University of Warwick for my research studies. My clinic and teaching experience has further developed my interest in the human form and its function, and this interest has harnessed my need to study further - and in a topic very familiar to me in the clinic - low back pain.

The Bowen Technique is.......

a soft tissue remedial therapy, which involves the therapist using fingers or thumbs to move over muscle, ligament, tendon and fascia through the body.

Working principally with the soft tissues, the aim of the treatment is to restore balance and function within the body.

Working specific areas over the whole body, the Bowen treatment comprises a series of ‘moves’ interspersed with short breaks,

which look to release tension from high-tensile areas, and promote a better balance through the body - encouraging the body to return to 'normal' function.
