I am at the end of the MSc year of the MRC Doctoral Training Partnership in Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research at the University of Warwick. As part of the MSc year I carried out two miniprojects.
1st MSc research project: Development of a lung microfluidic circuit (Physics, Polin lab)
2nd MSc research project: Host cell manipulation by the S. aureus type VII secretion system (WMS, Unnikrishnan lab)
Moving forward, my PhD project will include aspects of both mini projects and will be supervised by both Meera Unnikrishnan and Marco Polin.
Academic Background
Sep 2016 - Present: MSc Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research, University of Warwick
The first six months of the MSc includes taught modules involving topics across biology, microscopy, statistics and computer science. Following the taught modules are two twelve-week mini-projects.
Sep 2012 - June 2016: BSc Biology with Professional Placement, University of Bath, First Class Honours
Final year project: "The Survival and Growth Of Aerobic Bacteria in Make-up", Supervised by Professor Ed Feil.
Professional placement: GlaxoSmithKline Clinical Scientist. Placed within the Respiratory Translational Medicine group working on biomarker discovery for Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF).
