Randa Elsayed
Hi! My name is Randa. I have recently joined University of Warwick to undertake a 4 year PhD in Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research. I recently completed the first year of the programme, which comprised a series of taught modules as well as two mini-projects. I am currently in the first year of my PhD.
Research experience
Research Technician, MRC Centre for Developmental Neurobiology, King’s College London
-Investigated the role of Elfn1, a synaptic protein, in interneuron development, using the mouse as a model.
Research Assistant, Translational Neuroscience Research Group, University of Bristol
-Explored the pathological effects of chronic stress on acute rat hippocampal slices.
Education
Oct 2017-Present PhD in Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research MRC-DTP
-My project, with Dr Andrew Nelson, aims to analyse sox17+ lineages during zebrafish embryogenesis through functional genomics, transcriptomics and multi-spectral lineage tracing
Sep 2016 - 2017 MSc Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research, University of Warwick
-1st MSc research project: Statistical methods for analysing waveform data from plethysmograph (Statistics, Finkenstadt lab)
-2nd MSc research project: Analysis of Sox17+ lineages during zebrafish embryogenesis (SLS, Nelson lab)
MSc Neuroscience, King's College London
