This digital master-class is your chance to get together with academics from the University of Oxford and the University of Warwick and with other bright students from around the world. This online course, for able 8 – 12 year old students, aims to capture the imaginations of young learners and foster higher order thinking by introducing them to the fascinating subject of Cryptozoology.

Participants will be invited to contribute, create, research, collaborate and speculate and will be led through a fascinating anthropological virtual journey....

Let's set the scene: Betty, the Head Cryptozoologist needs a work experience student. Her usual office staff have gone off exploring a rainforest and she is hoping that you'll be able to manage their projects. You never know what's going to turn up next, but be sure that we'll spend our days investigating sightings (and hoaxes) and our evenings discussing our findings. But of course, first, you'll need some training......

Joining us on our online learning platform, you will have the opportunity to:

  • advance your knowledge of cryptozoology, anthropology and philosophy
  • enrich and develop your philosophical thinking, creative writing and your reasoning skills
  • be introduced to an advanced critical vocabulary
  • explore the boundaries between mythology and the imagination
  • strengthen your critical thinking, communication and collaboration skills
  • develop your research skills
  • collaborate with other students of a similar ability from around the world, sharing ideas, research and creative writing
  • develop your ICT and communication skills by using a range of digital resources
  • be inspired, challenged and motivated by academics from the University of Oxford and the University of Warwick
  • have fun!

Activities include tutor-led assignments, research, synchronous and asynchronous discussions, family activities, challenges and creative writing opportunities.
