How do I join?

You can apply for IGGY membership by completing the membership form online. As well as asking for information about you, you also need to provide a supporting statement from a school or other sponsoring organisation, which should outline how you are (or how you show the potential to be) performing within the top 5% of your age group.

IGGY is committed to widening participation and we consider all cases for admission on their individual merits.

There is no membership fee to join IGGY.

Is IGGY for me?

IGGY provision is targeted at young people from around the world who are in the top 5% in terms of ability or potential so it is important that students who join IGGY are likely to be able to benefit from the opportunities on offer.

We recognise existing national and international membership programmes as eligibility for membership of IGGY. For example, you are automatically eligible for membership of IGGY if you meet or have met the criteria adopted for admission to:

• YG&T (NAGTY-eligible) in England
• CTY and similar programmes in the US or internationally
• Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education
• Other similar organisations

IGGY membership is not based solely on recognising formal achievement. While we do indeed recognise national tests within individual countries, we also recognise that there are some young people who might benefit from IGGY membership, but may not yet be performing at the right level in terms of formal assessments or examination and we encourage applications on this basis.

Whilst the target and pitch for IGGY provision and opportunities is deliberately high, IGGY will take a practical and pragmatic approach to membership recognising that there is no definitive method for assessing ability and potential internationally.

IGGY is committed to finding untapped talent and potential, as well as nurturing and developing it further where it already exists. We need the support of schools and other supporting bodies to assist us in achieving this.
