The University of Warwick welcomes applications for visiting postgraduate research student places. However, it is strongly suggested that you contact the relevant department to discuss your needs before you apply to the University of Warwick as a visiting student.

In order to attend the University as a visiting research student you must submit an application via the University’s Postgraduate Admissions online application form. Where a department has more than one PhD on offer they will confirm to The Postgraduate Admissions Team which course you are to be assigned to at the point of offer.

The application form asks you to enter a start date for your studies. Choose the correct academic entry year or, if the required start date does not coincide with the start of the academic year, tick the check box, “If you wish to start at a different point in the academic year please tick here". Then enter a specific start date in the field provided. Please indicate in your personal statement the end date of your visit.

In support of your application you will be asked to provide a letter from your current supervisor which confirms your suitability for undertaking research at the University of Warwick as a visiting student. You will also need to meet the relevant department’s English language requirement.

Please note that as a visiting research student you will normally be liable for fees as follows:

• If you are visiting for a period of less than 10 weeks no fee will be charged.
• If you are visiting for a period of 10 weeks or over (and up to 12 months), a fee of 50% of the full fee, pro rata for the period of your visit, will be charged.

Please note that each department has a quota for visiting students and cannot exceed this number without express permission from the Chair of the Board of Graduate Studies.
