The Learning Grid
The Learning Grid provides an exciting, innovative, integrated, flexible space that students can use for independent learning in new and changing ways. It, for instance, supports individual study, group problem-solving activities, team working and presentation work, including an emphasis on facilitating the development and delivery of presentations and supporting students in the use of digital multi-media.
The Learning Grid is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, closing only on Christmas Day each year. It has all the latest IT equipment and a reference collection of the key books and texts students are most likely to need, as well as a Careers Library. It also has video-editing, multi-media and presentation equipment, wireless networking, video/DVD players and plasma screens, all supported by our friendly Student Advisors.
The Research Exchange
The Research Exchange is an imaginative and technology-rich facility where researchers and research students can carry out their studies and come into contact with colleagues across campus to discuss and explore their research together.
It provides a number of environments to meet different needs: an open-plan collaborative study space, quieter and more formal study accommodation, social and break-out spaces, and three bookable seminar rooms for research-focused workshops, conferences and other events. Wireless-enabled throughout, a cluster of 20 PCs supplements the existing Postgraduate PC Cluster located just outside the facility.
The Library
The University Library is right at the heart of campus and whatever your subject you’ll find your library invaluable. The Library provides expert staff and services in a recently refurbished, dynamic and creative learning space.
The Library has a vast collection with over one million books, 13.5 kilometres of archives, access to 35,000 e-journals, 13,400 e-books and over 7,000 digitised core text readings. Yet Library services here extend further than this to provide tailored services and the best environment for academic progression.
