While we pride ourselves on the strong academic rigour of our summer school, we also think it is important for summer school students to experience all that the University of Warwick and indeed, the UK, has to offer. As part of the International Summer School, you will have both formal and informal opportunities to socialise with your colleagues on and off campus.
Your first evening on campus will give you the opportunity to meet each other at a Welcome BBQ. There will be an organised trip to Stratford-upon-Avon where you will have the opportunity to see a production at the Royal Shakespeare Company theatre and a day trip to the city of Oxford. You will also be able to appreciate the rich history of the Midlands region with optional visits to the popular Kenilworth Castle, the cathedral city of Coventry and the picturesque Georgian town of Royal Leamington Spa. There will of course be opportunities to sample campus life including a wide selection of cafes, eateries and of course the world-class Warwick Arts Centre.
No visit to the UK would be complete without a trip to London, and when better to do this than in the lead up to the Olympics- London 2012? Our visit will take in the major tourist attractions and give you the opportunity to experience all the energy and excitement of a city preparing to host the Olympic Games.
At the end of the course we will celebrate all your achievements at a Gala Dinner where you can reflect upon your time at Summer School, enjoy fine dining and exchange details with your new-found colleagues and friends before you return home.
