Engineering and Business Studies
A passport to technical, business and finance roles in industry and commerce
This degree provides the opportunity not only to study with a leading school of engineering but also one of the most prestigious business schools in Europe. You start your degree spending two years studying with our engineering students and then transfer to Warwick Business School for your third year to study with the business students.
The degree provides a broad introduction to both disciplines and will equip you with technical and business skills for a career in management, business or commerce but does not lead to a career as a chartered engineer. Whilst in Engineering you can take business or engineering related optional modules – for example, our module on the rights and wrongs of the engineering profession or a biomedical engineering module.
In your third year you can choose from a range of different business modules including economics, marketing, finance and accounting and entrepreneurship. The degree opens up a wide range of graduate job opportunities, for example in accounting, as well as postgraduate opportunities to further develop your business skills.
Modules
Modules currently available in the Engineering Department include Design for Function, Economics and Structure of Industry, Biomedical Engineering, Multimedia Technology, The Aesthetics of Design, Starting and Running a Business, Computer Systems, Automation and Robotics and Systems Modelling & Control.
Options vary between courses and are subject to change.

Assessment
Through written and oral assessments, including project work, essays and examinations.
Student Profile: Oliver Newth, 3rd year, Civil Engineering

'One of the best aspects of Warwick’s Engineering course is that it allows us to become multidisciplinary – you are not tied to an Engineering stream right from the beginning. I have learnt about parts of electrical, mechanical, civil and manufacturing engineering, as well as business and even Arabic!
The School’s willingness to invest in its students is evident. My idea to change the way student resources like lecture notes are distributed to students received funding, was developed and has now been launched.
I have participated in many sports and activities, including working backstage for an opera in the Arts Centre, competitively rowing and playing dodgeball! My most memorable time was having the opportunity to teach in Ghana through the Warwick in Africa programme'.
