Have you always wanted to travel but been put off because you didn't know where to start?
The expedition society aims to provide a more affordable alternative to expensive private travel companies, by combining international voluntary work with independent travel.
In our first three years we have successfully organised eight incredibly successful trips to: Kenya, Nicaragua (voted 'Best Non-Social Event' at the Societies Federation Awards 2004), Thailand, Ghana, Peru, Zambia and Tanzania.
Destinations for this summer will emerge over the course of the first term as members discover shared interests and we are able to research the various options; but with our combined experience and contacts we can help you organise an individual or group expedition to anywhere in the world, find some travelling companions and give you lots of top travelling advice. (see the future expeditions section for more information). We have also researched volunteer-travel opportunities in France for the more cashed strapped traveller and have a variety of contacts in other parts of Europe.
We also support the fundraising efforts of our members and run excellent socials and weekend trips throughout the term.
We hold a meetings or socials on alternative weeks every Thursday evening. During term one socials will be on odd weeks, e.g. weeks 3,5,7 and 9, and will be based on the interests of members. Meetings will be held at 6pm in "The Bar" on even weeks, starting in week 4, and will be mainly concerned with discussing future destinations and projects.
