However, non-exec members will be encouraged to take part in all activities of the society, including organising events during term times and expeditions. Indeed the success of our past expeditions owes a lot to the enthusiasm and commitment of those taking part. Exec Positions (2004/05):President: Coordinates and leads the Exec and the general membership. Takes ulimtae responsibility for the society. Vice President and Equal Opportunities: Supports the president, taking responsibility in their absence. Whilst ensuring that the society complies with the equal opportunities policies set out by the Students Union and the society's key goals. Secretary: Responsible for maintaining effective communications between the exec and the general membership. Including maintaining the society's website and writing newsletters to the current and associate membership. Treasurer: Manages the finances of the society. Organises payments for society clothing and socials requiring payment in advance as well as refunds for expenses incured by members on the behalf of the society. Social Secretary: Responsible for orgnanising an enjoyable variety of social events for the membership throughout the year, including weekend trips and all day events. Publicity and Fundraising: Responsible for developing a positive image of the society among all members of the Students' Union, negotiating sponsorship for the society and coordinating the fundraising activities of those members that wish to participate. However, the success of the exec will be highly dependent on their ability to work as a team to achieve common objectives. In order to encourage greater participation, especially among new members, and aid the membership to select the most appropriate exec based on their experiences during the first two terms. |
