The Zoo is a one-act comic opera, with music by Arthur Sullivan and a libretto by B. C. Stephenson, writing under the pen name of Bolton Rowe. The major characters are: Æsculapius Carboy, an impecunious apothecary; Lætitia, whom Carboy wants to marry; Mr. Grinder, Lætitia's father; Eliza Smith, who runs the Refreshment Stall of the London Zoological Gardens; and Thomas Brown, Eliza's suitor, a man with a secret. Performed with a curtain-raiser of Cox & Box. Performances (all start 7.30pm)
