The Zoo/Cox & Box

The Zoo is a one-act comic opera, with music by Arthur Sullivan and a libretto by B. C. Stephenson, writing under the pen name of Bolton Rowe. The major characters are: Æsculapius Carboy, an impecunious apothecary; Lætitia, whom Carboy wants to marry; Mr. Grinder, Lætitia's father; Eliza Smith, who runs the Refreshment Stall of the London Zoological Gardens; and Thomas Brown, Eliza's suitor, a man with a secret.

Performed with a curtain-raiser of Cox & Box.

  • 1st December: Studley Village Hall
  • 2nd December: Tiddington Community Centre
  • 4th December: Warwick University Chaplaincy
  • 5th December: St. Mary's Church, Leamington
