WARWICK SPORT - WHERE NOW?
Gemma Morris

What were the objectives of your session?
To give a brief history of Warwick Sport and how it has developed over the five years since it started as well as an outline of the facilities and opportunities available here at Warwick. To look to the future and where Warwick Sport wants to be in line with the Warwick Sport 2015 Strategy.

Were these objectives successfully achieved through the session?
Yes, some staff had more knowledge than others, we ran a quiz which enabled everyone to look through our Warwick Sport brochure and learn a little more about Sport at Warwick, as well as talk through our roles and where Warwick Sport has come from and the future.

Other Comments
As part of the session we did some interactive group work on what staff would like to see Warwick Sport focusing on, we got some very good ideas in terms of developments and initiatives to engage more staff and will certainly be investigating this further and looking to incorporate into our new Warwick Active campaign where possible.

REDUCING MY ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT AT WARWICK
Nick Hillard

What were the objectives of your session?
To provide a brief update regarding environmental initiatives across the University (education/behavioural change, carbon management, green procurement, sustainable transport, waste and recycling etc). To present a simple, straightforward methodology for staff members to audit their own area of operation and identify opportunities for improvement.

Were these objectives successfully achieved through the session?
Yes. Timing was helped by the “travel time” that was built into the programme. This enabled the opportunity for discussion of specific issues in a short session at the end.

Other Comments
Participants were asked to highlight one environmental area that they feel is currently going well at the University and one area for improvement. The good aspects ranged from recycling and environmentally-friendly new buildings to land management and the variety of programmes to participate. Areas for improvement included the image, promotion and communication of environmental management work across the University, a desire to reduce paper use and the need for improved sustainable transport options, especially for pedestrians and cyclists. Participants were able to complete their own environmental audit of their Department. Results ranged from those who felt their Departments were effectively managing their environmental impact to those that required a little "environmental tlc".

IGGY: THE STORY SO FAR
Gareth Bennett

What were the objectives of your session?
To update attendees on what IGGY has achieved over the last year, and what its priorities are for the future.

Other Comments
Although the late start meant that the interactive part of the session had to be curtailed somewhat, there were some very interesting ideas generated by the group. Most of these ideas are already in our plans in some form but it was very useful to get alternate perspectives and to see potential synergies with other work being undertaken in other areas of the University.

INTRODUCING NEW MATERIAL: A PRACTICAL APPROACH
Dr Nicholas Monk

What were the objectives of your session?
To offer participants a fresh way to introduce new material to colleagues or students that is participant-centred, that builds confidence, that supports teamwork, and that communicates complex or difficult ideas in a rich format.

Were these objectives successfully achieved through the session?
Yes. Participants were fully engaged with the process in both sessions and recognised that the approach allowed each individual a voice in the creation of meaning and knowledge. Also, it became clear that the process of learning about a subject they had not encountered before was greatly speeded by the methods used.

STUDENT CAREERS AND SKILLS: CONTEXTS AND PARTNERSHIPS
Sue Bennett and Stephen Ward

What were the objectives of your session?
To inform the audience about our structure, organisation and priorities, and how this contributes to the student experience. To discuss and share perspectives and approaches to external partners.

Were these objectives successfully achieved through the session?
Feedback was that these objectives were achieved although owing to the small attendance (5) there was less opportunity to discuss and share different perspectives than might have been expected with a group of 15 to 20. The positive aspect of the small audience was that we were able to ask each participant for their personal objectives, and therefore to some extent we could tailor the session to those.
