Host Employers required for 2016/17 Warwick Graduate Internships Programme

Thanks to part-funding by Santander Universities and generous donations from Warwick alumni and friends, Warwick Graduate Internships 2016/17 (WGI) programme has opened for employer sign-up until 26th September, offering 12 week full-time internships starting in January 2017.

This year’s cohort of open-minded, portable, potential graduates - most holding a 1st or 2:1, representing all faculties and a broad sweep of sector interests, are signing up ready to apply for your potential internship.

Funding

The 2016/17 funding model is currently being finalised, with confirmed details available around mid-September. To give you a sense of the likely model, last year’s funding provided for up to 70% of costs to the employer (see the Warwick Graduate Internships website for details).

Participation and funding is subject to eligibility (NB: updated for 2016) and grants are paid in arrears only once we see proof of pay at or above £6.70 per hour, the current National Minimum Wage (or the National Living Wage if the intern is 25 years and above).

You may wish to propose a longer internship or increase the salary that you pay your intern if for example, the role is London-based, to incentivise the best candidates to apply. However, please bear in mind that Warwick can only part-fund the first 12 weeks.

Programme Schedule

Your commitment to the strict schedule is essential to facilitating an efficient and successful delivery of the programme. Take note of the important dates in the Programme Timetable, ensuring that you are able to meet them, noting our 26th September cut-off for uploading your internship vacancy.

Register your Interest to receive more information

Interested in maybe hosting a graduate? Register your Interest (myAdvantage login required) now. Expressing your interest does not commit you to participation, but it is necessary for inclusion in the programme. It will also enable us to be in touch with more details e.g. 2016/17 funding model. If you are new to Warwick’s jobs portal, you will first need to apply for an account on myAdvantage.

Uploading Internship Vacancy

You can upload an internship vacancy straight away (once your account is approved) for us to check through but please ensure that you use and follow our vacancy template. Important: Remember to include “WGI” in your job/ vacancy title e.g. “Research Assistant WGI”. Vacancies without “WGI” in the job title cannot be identified and included in the programme.

The template, guidelines on how to upload vacancies can be found on Warwick Graduate Internships website. Once we have your vacancy, we will look through it and make any recommendations that will support graduate engagement, approving it when you are happy with the final content.
