Warwick in London hosts Whitehall and Industry Group (WIG) breakfast briefing

On Wednesday 15 March, Warwick in London was delighted to host a WIG breakfast briefing given by Professor Dame Sally Davies, the Chief Medical Officer for England. After a welcome from Professor Abhinay Muthoo, the Dean of Warwick in London, Dame Sally gave a presentation on the subject of "Health at Work" to an audience of people from the private and public sector, including several colleagues from Warwick's Medical School.

British Media, EU membership and the Referendum - One day conference hosted at the Shard

Does the media really influence our opinions? Was the British media responsible for Brexit? What do researchers know about the relationship between media political behaviour?

A one-day conference was organised by the Warwick Policy Lab, Warwick in London and the Department of Economics and hosted on the 19th January at the Shard to address these very issues.

IFAD President and Minister of State for DfID discuss importance of rural investments in the fight against global poverty at Warwick in London

On Thursday 8 December, Warwick in London’s Policy Lab hosted an event to launch The Rural Development Report 2016 for the UN agency, IFAD, the International Fund for Agricultural Development. The event is part of a wider collaboration between IFAD and the University of Warwick’s Policy Lab – a partnership which creates opportunities for research student placements, and closer working between international development academics and practitioners. The collaboration will be of mutual benefit and should result in new and exciting outcomes. IFAD’s Rural Development Report 2016 is its flagship publication which brings together leading thinkers to analyse the experiences of rural development in over 60 developing countries.

Warwick in London host WIG Meeting with Sir Simon McDonald

On Monday 3 October, Warwick in London hosted a Whitehall & Industry Group talk by Sir Simon McDonald, Permanent Under Secretary and Head of the Diplomatic Service, Foreign and Commonwealth Office. To an audience of over 100 people from across the private and public sector, Sir Simon spoke about the challenges and opportunities facing the FCO and wider Civil Service as they look to exit the EU and deliver the best possible BREXIT deal for the United Kingdom. The issues covered included possible transitional arrangements, different negotiation strategies and what role parliament might play in these and ensuring the civil service had the capacity to deliver BREXIT whilst also delivering on the Government’s other policy priorities.
