The course will be led by Dr Chris Bilton, Reader in the Centre for Cultural Policy Studies at University of Warwick and by Linda Green, Director of Leading Creative Talent and formerly Head of BBC Creative Leadership Programme.
Chris Bilton has lectured and published widely on in the relationship between creativity, management and organisation. As well as setting up and running the UK’s first postgraduate course in managing creative enterprises at Warwick, he has run workshops and masterclasses for Warwick Business School, the Highways Agency and the Roads Academy. In his teaching and his research, he applies theories and practices of creativity to organisational management and strategy. His publications include: Management and Creativity: from creative industries to creative management (Blackwell 2007); Creative Strategy: reconnecting business and innovation (co-authored with Stephen Cummings – Wiley 2010); Handbook of Management and Creativity (co-edited with Stephen Cummings – Edward Elgar 2014); and The Disappearing Product: Marketing and Markets in the Creative Industries (forthcoming – Edward Elgar 2017). Before joining the University of Warwick in 1999 he worked in arts management and theatre. He was educated at University of Cambridge and University of Warwick.
Linda Green started her career in pharmaceutical research and then factual programme making, before working in strategy and development at the BBC, where she developed ideas and programme strategy for many of the BBC’s top titles including Blue Planet, Top Gear and the BBC’s 2012 digital Olympics coverage. As Head of Creative Leadership at the BBC, Linda designed the BBC’s Creative Leadership Programme which over three years developed new ideas, talent and organisational cultural change for BBC North, BBCiPlayer, Strictly Come Dancing, Doctor Who and external clients including BSkyB, Endemol Shine and Fremantle. More recently Linda founded and runs Leading Creative Talent, a creative strategy and training company whose clients include BBC Worldwide, The Coca Cola Company, Unilever and P&G.
