Warwick Road Sewerage Project in Kenilworth

Warwick Road through Kenilworth is now due to re-open on 24th September 2008 - four weeks ahead of the original schedule.

The second phase of the Warwick Road Sewerage Scheme is well ahead of schedule and so the planned Warwick Road closures have now been brought forward. The road will be closed in a series of sections detailed below, and began on Thursday 17 April 2008. The road closures and diversions are expected to be in place for 25 weeks in total.

The Warwick Road Sewerage Scheme is the latest phase of work in Severn Trent’s strategy to improve the sewerage system in Kenilworth. These works are linked to the recently completed projects in Mill End, Offa Drive and Whitemoor Road as well as the ongoing projects in Thornby Avenue and Station Road.

At present, the sewers in the town simply cannot cope with the demands of today's urban society, which results in 54 nearby homes often suffering flooding during intense rainfall. The project will involve constructing new sewers and manholes and enlarging old sewers to provide greater capacity in the sewerage system.

Severn Trent will endeavour to ensure that road closures are kept to a minimum throughout the works. When a section of road is closed off to through traffic they hope to provide access for residents' and business vehicles, although this may not be possible at all times. Residents will be notified in advance when access to their property is to be restricted.

Amended timetable

The work to construct the new large diameter sewers will be completed during a number of staged road closures in Waverley Road (between Station Road and Warwick Road), and Warwick Road (between Waverley Road and the Gyratory). There will also be a section of work undertaken in Clarkes Avenue. The dates and sequence of the road closures are detailed below and are to be read in conjunction with the attached plan (PDF Document).
