The World Cup may have drawn to a close but football is still big business at the University of Warwick. Not only has the University recently been named as an official Olympic training centre for the 2012 games, but they have also been playing host to a variety of young football stars.
The Football Centre at the University of Warwick and Warwick Conferences have an ongoing relationship with the Football Association and regularly host visits from their youth teams. Over the last fortnight they have hosted an International Women's Under 23 Tournament - featuring England, Norway, Sweden and the USA and the England men's Under 19's training camp for the European Championships.
Warwick is the perfect venue for the teams with five outdoor pitches, two all-weather pitches and extensive gym and physiotherapy facilities.
The teams stay in some of Warwick Conferences award-winning accommodation and enjoy menus specially created by our chefs to provide the right levels of energy and nutrition for the athletes.
With its top rate sporting facilities, accommodation and it's ideal central location, Warwick is rapidly gaining a reputation as a destination for football in the UK, not just with the Football Association but with a range of sporting organisations and professional clubs. This year St Johnstone and Doncaster Rovers have both used the University for their pre-season training camps.
James Ellis, Deputy Director of Sport at Warwick said: "We are delighted that the FA and other professional teams are choosing Warwick as their preferred venue for training. As a campus University all our facilities are in close proximity and the accommodation and facilities are second-to-none. We've had a busy summer and are already beginning to book up for next year too, with the Olympics on the horizon we're in for a few busy and successful years ahead!"
