Research

My main focus of interest is the provincial coinage of the Roman Empire. In my PhD, I investigated the coinage of Gordian III (238-244) minted in the province of Asia. Aspects I am more specifically interested in include iconography, organisation of the coin production and institutional aspects. More recently, I have started to focus on patterns of coin circulation in Greece during the Roman period and have extended the geographical scope of my investigation to North Africa (coinage of Juba II).

I am involved in a number of numismatic research projects:

  • Griechische Münzen in Winterthur vol. III
  • Coin finds from Eretria
  • IGCH 2307 and the coinage of Juba II of Mauretania
  • Roman Provincial Coinage, Philip (244-249), Province of Asia
