About

Will Eaves is a novelist, poet and teacher. He was Arts Editor of the Times Literary Supplement from 1995 to 2011 before moving to Warwick, where he is Associate Professor in the Writing Programme. His novel-in-voices The Absent Therapist (CB Editions) was shortlisted for the Goldsmiths Prize in 2014. The Inevitable Gift Shop (CB Editions), a collection of poetry and prose, was shortlisted for the Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry in 2016 and commended by the Poetry Book Society. Murmur (CB Editions 2018; Bellevue Lit Press US, 2019, Canongate 2019) won the Wellcome Book Prize and the Republic of Consciousness Prize for Fiction in 2019, and has been shortlisted for the BBC National Short Story Award (2017), the Goldsmiths Prize (2018), and the James Tait Black Prize (2019). He co-hosts The Neuromantics podcast (with ICN Director Prof. Sophie Scott) and writes a column for the Brixton Review of Books. Carcanet Press will publish his Reader of the works of Patricia Beer in 2021/2.
 

Research interests

Contemporary poetry and fiction, editing, lyric poetry, the intersection between science and literature, music and literature, and the domestic macabre in twentieth-century British fiction (Spark, Bainbridge, Mantel, Simpson, etc).

Teaching and supervision

This year I’m teaching Practice of Fiction (EN236), supervising a number of Personal Writing Projects and MA Long Projects, co-supervising a PhD, and conducting a Fiction Workshop on the MA in Writing.
