Welcome to the Department of Film and Television Studies!
We’re delighted that you’re joining us in the Department this year and hope that you’ll settle in quickly, find new friends and be intellectually challenged and stimulated by your course over the three years to come. The Department is a small, close-knit community of film and television scholars and we’re glad that you’ve found your home here with us.
Starting a new course can be daunting – many of you are moving away from home for the first time – so we hope to make this process as easy and enjoyable as possible. The university’s Welcome to Warwick
site has lots of essential information on it about settling into university life. In the Department, there are a number of people who are here to look out for you: Tracey McVey is our Departmental Administrator and is a great first port of call for any questions you have. Her office is room A0.13 – please do call in to see her if you have any concerns at all.
You will be assigned a personal tutor who will look after you in the Department over the next three years. You will meet your tutor on the first day as a group of tutees, and then should schedule a meeting with them so you can get to know each other better in the first couple of weeks of term. You’ll be told all about how your personal tutor will support you when you meet them on day one. You will also be assigned a student mentor (one of our lovely second years) who you’ll meet at an informal gathering in week one on Tuesday at 6pm. They’ll be able to answer any questions you might have too, and give you useful advice from a seasoned Warwick Film Television Studies undergraduate perspective! We’ll let you know who your mentor is when you arrive as we’re still gathering names of volunteers to do this important job.
Dr Rachel Moseley is Head of Department and Professor Stephen Gundle is Director of Undergraduate Studies and they will both be around to meet you in your first week. You might be directed to talk to Stephen about any course-based queries – his office is A0.18 and his email address is S dot Gundle at warwick dot ac dot uk if you don’t catch him there and want to make an appointment.
We have posted your Week One timetable on the right-hand side of this page; have a look at this, and you'll be able to see what we have planned for your arrival in the Department.
