Welcome to the Department of Film and Television Studies at Warwick.

We are a vibrant and friendly community with an international reputation for the outstanding quality of our research-led teaching. We are very proud of leading the way in developing an ambitious and innovative curriculum for our students.

As one of the longest established departments in the UK, we enjoy an unrivalled range of intellectual and creative facilities that support our many activities both at Warwick and around the country.

The Department regularly tops all the main league tables and is ranked 1st in the UK in the Guardian University Guide 2020 with a score of 100%. We enjoy brilliant feedback from our students measured, for example, by a score of 92% satisfaction for Teaching Quality in the latest National Student Survey.

Our teaching resources for film and television are second to none. We offer all our undergraduates the chance to be taught by many of the leading film and television scholars in the country. We provide exceptionally high levels of small-group teaching and supportive pastoral care provision.

We are currently developing a range of exciting new elements to strengthen and extend your learning experience:

  • The option to apply for a Year 3 module in Film Production to be delivered by the world-renowned London Film School.
  • The option to apply to take part in a year-long Study Abroad programme
  • The opportunity to take part in innovative new practice-led modules tailored to future employment. These currently include Screenwriting and The Practice of Film Criticism
  • The chance to pursue a specialised pathway in Television Studies through the BA Film Studies degree
  • A tailored talks and events programme with our talented alumni now working at all levels and in all sectors of the film, media and creative sector.

This is a great time to consider joining the Department and becoming a member of our vibrant student community. We look forward to seeing you at one of our forthcoming Open Days and giving you a taster of what we have to offer you.
