Saturday 16th June, Coventry Mysteries Festival

Exhibition of fathers' poetry and book launch, Broadgate Coventry

Emerging from our past poetry workshops with fathers in collaboration with local publisher Nine Arches Press, we exhibited a collection of fathers' poetry at the festival. We also provided a craft activity for children - kids were invited to make their own Father's Day cards, for free. Between 12 and 1pm, we hosted some poetry readings by ten of our poets, and Babakas also came along to perform an excerpt of Our Fathers.

Tuesday 12th June and Wednesday 13th June, Studio Theatre, Warwick Arts Centre

Performance of 'Our Fathers', followed by panel discussions

On these two dates, the Centre for the History of Medicine, in collaboration with China Plate and Warwick Arts Centre, hosted performances of Babakas Theatre's 'Our Fathers'. This piece examines three performers' relationships with their very different fathers. Afterwards, we chaired two panel discussions, on the themes of 'Father Figures Through Time' and 'Thoroughly Modern Dads?' Find out more about the performance and panel discussions. The performance was also accompanied by an exhibition of fathers' poetry.
