Dr James Poskett wins the 2023 Jerry Bentley Prize in World History

Horizons: A Global History of Science (Penguin, 2022) by Dr James Poskett, Associate Professor of the History of Science, has been awarded the 2023 Jerry Bentley Prize from the American Historical Association, which is for "the most outstanding book on world history".

Previous winners include Professor Priya Satia (Stanford), Professor Adam Clulow (UT Austin), and Professor Erika Rappaport (UC Santa Barbra).

James Poskett awarded British Academy / Wolfson Fellowship

Dr James Poskett, Associate Professor in the History of Science and Technology, has been awarded a British Academy / Wolfson Fellowship.

 

The British Academy / Wolfson Fellowships support early career researchers “who show outstanding talent in both research and public engagement and will communicate their research to a global audience.”

 

As part of the fellowship, Dr Poskett will be working on a research project titled, “The Scientific Revolution as Global History, 1200–1800”.

Applications are invited for a fully-funded PhD studentship (fees and maintenance) to be held at the Department of History, University of Warwick and the Science Museum, London. The studentship is funded through the Arts and Humanities Research Council’s Science Museums and Archives Consortium Collaborative Doctoral Partnership (CDP) scheme. The project will be supervised jointly by Dr James Poskett (Warwick), Dr Katayoun Shafiee (Warwick), Dr Richard Dunn (Science Museum), and Mr Ben Russell (Science Museum). Dr Meleisa Ono-George awarded National Teaching Fellowship

Congratulation to Dr Meleisa Ono-George who has been award National Teaching Fellowship.

Dr Meleisa Ono-George is an expert in anti-racist pedagogy and inclusive teaching practice. Embedding both in order to support more positive outcomes and experience for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) students in Higher Education. She is Associate Professor and Director of Student Experience in the Department of History.
