About

I took an MSc in International Studies at the Faculté des Affaires Internationales in Le Havre, studying law, economics, business, English, German and Spanish. My MSc thesis was about the impact of structural adjustment policies imposed by the IMF on third-world countries. I have since always been interested in the impact of public policies on people and business.

After my MSc, I started working in the tourism industry but decided to go back to university to further my knowledge of English. I spent a year at the Université François Rabelais, in Tours, to gain a BA in English and subsequently became a lectrice at the University of Wolverhampton for two years. I was then hired by a software company to translate their software and technical documentation (accounting & finance, logistics and automotive) from English into French.

However I was always more interested in teaching and, after completing my PGCE, I joined the Language Centre at the University of Warwick in 2000 where I am currently Associate Professor in French and French team leader. I was an external examiner for the University of Cardiff from 2012 to 2016. I am currently an external examiner at Durham University and UNILANG examiner for the UNILANG certification scheme..
