About

Denise Henschel studied German Literature and Language at Free University Berlin, as well as European Literature and Culture at the University of Cambridge, obtaining her postgraduate degree (MA Modern German Literature) from Free University Berlin. Her Master's thesis, co-supervised by both institutions, focused on performative writing as a subversive act in the work of the contemporary author Olga Grjasnowa. She worked as a student research assistant with Prof. Dr. Anne Fleig (FU Berlin) and previously taught at Cardiff University.

Denise was appointed to The University of Warwick by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in 2017. The DAAD is the world’s largest funding organisation for the international exchange of students and researchers.
