Zhiyan Guo joined Warwick in 2007, after completing her Ph.D in Education in Manchester, with the full funding support from the UK Oversea Research Scholarship (ORS). Since then, she has worked on projects concerning Internationalisation, e-learning, teaching and assessment. Being subject leader of Chinese, she has designed and taught all Chinese courses from beginner up to advanced levels.
She has acted as an External Examiner for similar programmes in several UK universities, including LSE, Imperial, Glasgow, Bristol, East Anglia, and Exeter.
She was elected into the Executive Committee of the British Chinese Language Teaching Society in 2014, taking the role of Editor for two years and the role of Chair from 2016.
Zhiyan Guo’s research interests include intercultural communication, Chinese characters and reading, language acquisition and language teaching and technology. She has been serving as review editor for journals, and also published articles and co-edited books on Chinese pedagogy.
