My Academic Background

I first came to the University of Warwick in 2006 and did a three year Undergraduate course in the School of Theatre, Performance and Cultural Policy Studies. After finishing with a First Class BA Hons and graduating in the summer of 2009, I then started working on an MA by Research in the same department. The intention of this MRes was to develop and focus work I had begun in my third year dissertation, looking at private performances in country houses throughout history. The title of this thesis was Private and Amateur Theatricals at Chatsworth House: 1880-1914. I completed this thesis at the end of the summer 2010.

Since September 2010, I have been doing a part-time PhD looking at Private and Amateur Theatricals in Britain's great houses 1830-1914. Again, the intention of this research project is to expand upon my previous work. The work produced about the Chatsworth House theatre was focussed and in-depth. My PhD on the other hand will talk more broadly about the issues arising from private and amateur theatricals in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
