About

David Coates completed his undergraduate degree in Theatre and Performance Studies here at the University of Warwick in 2009. He then went on to do a Masters by Research which he completed in 2010. David is now a third year part-time doctoral student at the University of Warwick researching aristocratic private and amateur theatricals in the nineteenth century.

Research interests

David’s other research interests include: Elizabethan and Jacobean travelling players, theatres and court masques; the actress in high society; theatre historiography; and the rise and fall of the aristocracy.

David has also been investigating theatre sustainability in the twenty-first century alongside Dr Margaret Shewring.
