Other Activities

Teaching

In the academic year 2015/16 I was a tutor for the 1st year module "Mathematics for Physicists" (PX149), which includes marking homework and holding weekly examples classes. In 2014/15 I was a tutor for various 1st year modules in the Department of Physics, e.g. Classical Mechanics and Relativity, Electricity and Magnetism, Intro to Particle Physics, etc.

Additional Qualifications

In connection with my teaching activities I have gained the Postgraduate Award in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (with Merit) and became an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. This required writing a teaching philosophy statement and reflective essays on various aspects of teaching, such as giving and receiving feedback to and from students, being observed by an experienced colleague, and planning a teaching session.

I have obtained a Postgraduate Award in Transferable Skills in Science, which required attending workshops and coursework in scientific writing, doctoral skills, team building and more throughout the duration of my PhD.

Outreach

I volunteered at The Big Bang - UK Young Scientists and Engineers Fair 2015, helping at the IMA's stand. The aim of this fair is to excite school children's curiosity for science and maths and encourage them to think about a career in science, technology & engineering.

In 2016 I was a finalist in the "3-Minute-Thesis" competition at the University of Warwick. The aim is to describe your PhD project for a broader audience in 3 minutes.
